Christmas Tree Disposal in Germany

Despite living here for almost half a year ( still can’t believe that I’ve lived this long away from home), it never hit me on how my neighbors would dispose of their Christmas tree come the new year. I mean, back in the states, we just left it in our front yard next to our trash bins and the garbage man would swing by and pick it up and dispose of it respectively along with the brown bin yard waste contents. Since most apartment residents have community trash bins, not all Christmas trees can fit in the bins. As such, the Germans get pretty creative with how they get rid of their pine/fir needle bearing trees. Here is my compilation of lonely, sad Christmas tree abandonments. Unfortuantely, the most mundane one witnessed (one tree on the car hood and roof) was not captured due to the maturity of this post idea coming up way later in the game.

This was the standard way of disposal. Tree sadly laying next to the green bin. Sometimes blocking the sidewalk pathway.

This one basically blocks the entire sideswalk.

A pile of sad trees. For some reason, all the neighbors thought it was a great idea to place their dying trees on the same corner.

Half of a Christmas tree next to the Main River. Because, you know. Dying trees need a good view before their time is up.

A half dead tree decorating the planter of a local super market plaza.

The tree is screaming “Help Meeee.” Looks like it was shot and dragged out and the head/top portion of tree is what’s left of it.

Another sad tree, but at least it was well taken cared of since the needles are intact and full. *Hi Aenny, Tae & Lielle !*

Well, that’s nice. Dying tree entrapped under an abandoned chair right in front of a parked car. Where’s the personal space here??

A deadly scene. A tree corpse next to a still, living tree. Twas a sad night here.

Because, yes. Trees are made of glass. Let’s dump it next to the glass bins! At least it’s strategically placed next to the green glass bin. Extra credit to this tree thrower.

This one made me take a double look. An unassuming tree that looks naturally planted and blended into the side background. Until you take a closer look and realize the tree is leaning on the metal side bar and not exactly planted into the dirt. Tree Trickery!
